Research
Our research program addresses three related questions:
- What is the role of cultural continuity and discontinuity in the mental health of Aboriginal peoples?
- How do current mental health services respond to the needs of Aboriginal peoples in urban and rural settings?
- What are the prevailing models and practices related to health and healing among Aboriginal peoples?
In addition to these studies, the Network is
available to assist Aboriginal organizations and communities to develop
and conduct research on:
- Best practice models of culturally appropriate mental health services
- Community response strategies to suicide, substance use, and other crises
- Mental health promotion programs, especially for youth and families
- Intensive secondary analysis of data sets
